Apple ios5 changes..........

ios5 has been released...................

Stable version of ios5 for i phone, ipad, ipad has been released by apple

Apple working on minipad-Apple

Most people were disappointed when Apple didn't announce the iPhone 5 . Apple is working on a mini version of the iPad which will cost around 250-300 US$. Mini doesn't necessarily mean that its smaller but instead have lower pricing. It would help Apple target competitors like the Amazon Kindle Fire. Along with the cheaper "Mini iPad", Apple would also announce the iPad 3 which will be an upgrade to the iPad 2 and will be priced similarly. He says that the "Mini iPad" would be launched in Q1 2012 and the iPad 3 in Q2 2012. source

7.5 awesome features of Windows Phone 7.5

Microsoft will launch Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango update) in India tomorrow, which will be the first major update in two years to be officially launched in the country. Windows Phone 7.5 has received raving reviews and with some aggressively priced hardware from HTC and Samsung (okay, Acer too), followed by Nokia next year, Microsoft can finally expect to make its mark in the smartphone space. We were already in love with the clean Metro UI first seen in Windows Phone 7 and now with the new update, we think things have only gotten better. Hit the break to know the 7.5 awesome features in Windows Phone Mango Update and why we think it has the potential to give Android and iOS a decent fight.

1. Multitasking: One of the major reasons (among others) for the failure of Windows Phone 7 was the absence of multitasking. Windows Phone 7.5 takes care of that and how! Pressing the back key for a slightly longer duration opens thumbnails (cards, if we may) of recently opened applications that are running in the background. Even third- party app developers can add suspend-mode to their apps, which ensures the app resumes instantly from the place it was last left.

2. Unified messaging and groups: This is one of the best features that neither iOS nor Android have by default. The messaging hub unifies all your communications with any person over SMS, Facebook chat or Live Messenger into one place as a conversation. However, it does not support third-party apps, so for instance, one cannot add Gtalk chats here.

3. Contacts Hub with social network integration: Windows Phone 7 already had a decent Facebook integrations within its contacts hub. Now, Microsoft has added Twitter and LinkedIn to the mix. One can even create groups of contacts and pin individual group tiles to the home page. Every group has a tile for individual members showing their latest updates and photos. One can send a common text message or email to everyone in the group.

4. Unified mailbox and threaded e-mails: It took Microsoft sometime to implement but a single universal e-mail is finally here along with threaded e-mails to make sense of conversations over mail.

5. MS Office with cloud integration: When Microsoft first dabbled in Windows Mobile, one of its biggest selling feature was Mobile Office. Somewhere in between, Windows Mobile lost its mojo and third-party apps like QuickOffice and Docs2Go took over. Microsoft is back with a bang with Mobile Office on Windows Phone 7.5. One can now insert comments in MS Word and MS Excel comes with some commonly used formulas. And of course, one can sync all their files with Skydrive for anytime, anywhere access.

6. Windows Marketplace: Windows Phone 7 users would know how difficult it was to get apps for their smartphones. There was a reason why Microsoft did not launch Windows Phone 7 in India and that was the non-availability of Marketplace here. Thankfully, with Windows Phone 7.5, Marketplace is now available in India to access apps. Yes, the number is not as big as Android or iOS but it certainly is a good start.

7. Photo tagging: Uploading pictures directly from the phone to Facebook is no rocket science but how about tagging friends in the picture before uploading them? Yes, Windows Phone 7,5 does that.

7.5. Minor but important features: And finally the minor but crucial features like mobile hotspot (Internet sharing), the ability to connect to hidden Wi-Fi networks, dynamic tiles on home page even for third party apps, video calling and much more.

BlackBerry services go down again

And here we go again. Barely hours after RIM got its server up and running again, users across Singapore, India and Middle East are reporting of service outage. While some are complaining about slow service/delayed responses, others have been cut off all together.

The second outage in as many days could not have come at a worst possible time for RIM, which is facing intense competition from Apple and Google, among others. Apple will release its next generation OS for smartphones and tablets tomorrow, called iOS 5, which will have a new feature called iMessaging that is very similar to the BlackBerry Messenger service that made RIM’s phones popular. The Apple iPhone 4S goes on sale from Friday in many countries. Google, too, has launched a feature called Messenger (Huddle) on its Google+ app that replicates the same functionality. Facebook is also implementing its chat feature in its latest smartphone and tablet apps with push notification feature.

UPDATE: We have just heard from RIM and the issue seems to have affected South America too.

Some users in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, India, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina are experiencing messaging and browsing delays. We are working to restore normal service as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.

google tv launched in uk

Technology comes new Black Hat methods….

A few weeks back Eric Shmidt announced that Google TV will be launching in the UK within the next 6 months [Source: The Telegraph]. Exciting news! Especially seeing how the last we heard on Google TV was that it was going to be 2 years away still because Google was having trouble agreeing deals on content licenses from programme producers…which is key as people aren’t going to just watch You Tube on their TV’s.

What we liked about this announcement was that it will allow viewers to easily switch between TV and Internet on their main screen. In our humble opinion this will be the big breakthrough in combing Search and TV advertising together. If the set top boxes give advertisers data on how/when people watch TV programmes, Search advertisers will be able to have much more dynamic PPC adverts to capture people who are watching TV and then target them with PPC / Display advertising.

For PPC an example may be – if you are watching X Factor…you could then have dynamic ads which would say something along the lines of ‘find out what Cheryl Cole’s dress comes from’ and then link them off to the retailer who is selling that product.

In terms of Display…The BlackHatters know that Sky are currently developing technology which will allow them to use dynamic retargeting of TV advertisements. So if you are watching the football on Sky Sports, the banners that go around the pitch will soon be able to be manipulated to advertise programmes you have watched on TV and even more interesting…products you have searched for the internet.

That is going to give Search marketers a massive lift in the amount of eyeballs they can put their adverts in front of and (in our opinion) will be the next big game changer for online marketers.

It’ll be interesting to see how you will have cookies on your TV now, but with all these latest technological developments, there will always be Black Hat methods that advertisers can use in order to increase their coverage. We’re already discussing how you’d be able to change your TV/Laptop IP address so you could get TV channels from all around the World rather than just the country you are in…but we will wait and see how it all works out!

Motorola Defy Plus is Official – runs Gingerbread and can survive some abuse !

Motorola Defy Plus is Official – runs Gingerbread and can survive some abuse !
The rumoured Motorola Defy+ which is the successor to the original Defy is finally official close on the heels of the Google to acquire Motorola Mobility announcement . The Defy Plus retains the glory of it's ancestor and is Water Resistant, Scratch Resistant and Dust Proof. We are not totally sure what extent of abuse this phone can handle. Our very own Jon had the pleasure of dipping the the old Defy in a glass of water and it did function properly afterwards. In terms of specs it is powered by a 1GHz CPU and runs on Android 2.3 and runs on a 1700 mAh battery. The 3.7 inch display is made of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass. You can find the full specs below. As you can see there are minor improvements in terms of specs but we wish Motorola promoted this phone in a better way at least in countries where it rains a lot !
